It's a Gas

Not really. I need to tell this story because, weird enough EVERYONE doesn't know.  If you know about the gas then do not read this.  I just found this email I sent so I am copying it and pasting.

THE CULPRIT

  On September 5th I smelled gas and called SDGE.  They came out right away and it turned out we were loosing 9 lbs an hour. I guess that is a lot.  So by law they had to shut us down.  So, the next day we had it fixed ($1000.00) and the inspector came the day after that (keep in mind, no gas=no hot showers, no dryer & no stove/oven).  The inspector said the patio covering had to come off or we had to move the meter.  Naturally we did not want to remove the patio covering.  So, it took about 2.5 weeks to have an estimate drawn up to have the meter relocated (because only SDGE can move it, of course!)  So between the plumber, sdge,  permits and inspector fees the grand total came out to $4000.00!  So, then it took a lot of arguing and debating as to what we should do (keep in mind, 3.5 weeks later we still have no hot showers, dryer or stove/oven. Lets just say trips to my moms for showers, using the crock pot and line drying became the norm).  We really wanted to just move the meter.  BUT- we just had to spend 6K on fixing equipment and then 2.5K on tickets to Cabo. So, we dont just have an extra 4K and we aren't interetsed in credit right now because of the state of the economy (excuse the cliche).  We finally decided LAST week to take the patio covering down after Sandro's b-day party and then have the meter fixed in December and also replace the patio. It was sad to see the patio go:(

So- the big nerws today- we finally got it back.

39 DAYS!

no more patio.  We plan on starting the meter moving project in December which sets us back on other projects.  Sometimes I wish we would have bought a newer house or just rented.  But we are in deep...such as life.  It didn't kill us and I am READY for VAY-CAY!!!!

It will be re-placed!
